Preventing dental disease
PREVENTIVE, CLEANING, AND HYGIENIC SERVICES
A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures by preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.
Professional cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are usually performed by the Registered Dental Hygienists. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental-survey (oral exam) to update one’s dental record as well as the use of advanced technology to remove plaque and tartar, and polish your teeth. Other preventative measures will be offered such as swishing with a fluoride treatment to prevent decay and periodontal disease.
Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of Dr. Davies and the dental hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.
