Digital Radiography is a form of X-ray imaging that uses digital sensors instead of traditional photographic film. Thanks to new digital technology, we are able to take x-rays with up to 90% less radiation than older equipment. Additional benefits include immediate access to a wider dynamic image-range, elimination of costly film processing steps, and the ability to enhance detailed aspects and the overall display of the image. The digitized images are stored in a computer and displayed on the computer screen. Retrievability and portability are also greatly enhanced. Environmentally safe, the digital x-rays require no developing solutions, fixers, cleansers, or x-ray mounts.
An ultra sonic scaling unit is a dental hygiene tool that uses high frequency sound waves to clean teeth by gently vibrating the tartar away. Instead of scaling the teeth with hand scalers, the unit uses oscillating sound waves to remove tartar from above and below the gumline. It is so successful that it can even be used for deep cleaning and gum therapy without need for anesthesia. Ultra Sonic Scaling is the safe, faster, and more effective alternative to traditional methods.
An intraoral camera is a highly advanced pen-sized wand with a built-in light source. It is covered with a disposable plastic sheath for contamination prevention. The intraoral camera allows Dr. Davies to zoom in on one tooth with 25 times magnification. The precise images enable us to detect early problems such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excess wear. The visual evidence provides a clearer understanding and therefore more accurate diagnoses, allowing us the opportunity to prevent small problems before they escalate or cause pain. With the intraoral camera, Dr. Davies and you are better able to make treatment decisions with confidence.
